555-KRPL

April 6th, 2011

In October of last year I reviewed Jon Kerpel’s exhibit of “Earth Temples” at the Alameda Free Library. When he was invited to exhibit at Gallery 555, a satellite of the Oakland Museum of California, I attended the March 24 reception.

The exhibit is elegantly curated by Carin Adams, Assistant Curator for OMCA’s professional-services division. The pieces are relatively sparse–a functional necessity of the venue–but this just adds to the serenity of the installation. It’s worth the jaunt downtown.

Congratulations on this well deserved honor, Jon. Local guy makes good!

The exhibit runs through April 29 at 555 12th Street, Oakland, CA 94607. The building is open Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm, and 7am-8pm on the third Thursday of every month.
