100×2

January 29th, 2014

I’ve written my second 100 pieces in the past year and a half. Observations about artists and their exhibits in white-walled galleries and hair salons, reflections on experiences that moved and inspired me–from Felix Baumgartner’s 24-mile freefall to a tightrope walker practicing a few feet above the pavement–books I liked and movies I didn’t, and zombies of course, learning something new with every piece. I’ve written for SF Weekly, Alameda Magazine, Oakland Magazine, The Alamedan, and Alameda Journal, and for this, my own little blog.

200

I had the opportunity to meet some remarkable individuals, including photographer Thom Lafferty, who passed away shortly after our interview, iconic punk graphic artist Winston Smith (who’s still kicking), and scores of artists in every conceivable medium whose work blew me away.  As if that wasn’t reward enough, along the way I was named Best Local Blogger in both 2012 and 2013 in the Bay Area A-List, thanks to your support.

I hope you’ll take a moment to flip back through my archives and read a few posts you may have missed, and perhaps leave a comment, as nearly 40,000 spammers have so far. If you enjoy what you read I’d appreciate your vote again in the A-List. Voting ends March 2. Thank you!

Warm Regards,
michael
