2014 Bay Area A-List

March 14th, 2014

I was going for a hat trick in ABC 7’s Bay Area A-List, hoping to be named Best Local Blogger for the third year in a row, but came up a little short. (Cue height jokes from those of you who know me in Real Life.) This year’s winner was The Expat Woman, “a social networking and resource website for women from across the globe who are now living in the US.” Stacie Tamaki, “promoting local tourism, living, working, dining out, cooking, baking, and adventuring” via The Flirty Blog, was runner up again. My own blog took the bronze medal. It was an honor just to be nominated, yada yada yada. 😉 But, seriously, thank you to everyone who voted for me.

In other Arts-related categories, ArtHaus was back on top as best gallery, beating out last year’s winner, Quent Cordair Fine Art. The top East Bay Gallery was Transmission Gallery, in Oakland. Alameda’s own Gary Francis Fine Art, which only recently opened, took 5th place.

Best Museum honors again went to the de Young. Alameda’s USS Hornet Museum made a strong showing in 3rd place, behind the California Academy of Sciences. SFMOMA dropped back from 3rd to 8th place, not surprising consider that they are closed for construction through early 2016.

ArtSpan, the organization behind SF’s open studios,  finished 3rd in the Best Charity category.

Once again it looks like your best bets for pet and wedding photography are The Furrtographer and IQphoto Studio, respectively while Angela Lang Photography in Oakland is the new leader for Children’s photos. Need those pics framed? Creative Framing & Gallery in Oakland is still the place to go.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees!
